Scope of the Role
The Executive Director leads a team that designs and implements programs, events, and initiatives as well as leading the development of a workplace culture which recognizes the value of passionate team members who are advocates for the vision and goals of the Foundation.
Awareness, education, research, collaboration and advocacy have been the consistent words that stand out with Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada and they support that best practises and health outcomes are at the heart of the organization.
This includes the process of developing and implementing the strategic plan, the governance model, the building of meaningful relationships with stakeholders and partners, day to day oversight of programs/events, and the ongoing development of its people and culture.
Advocating on behalf of the Foundation has resulted in increased awareness and education for the cause. This includes collaboration with Allied Health, Healthcare Colleges, and third-party providers, the Ministry of Health, researchers, community leaders, and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
Governance: The Society is governed by the Board of Directors (Board) and is comprised of volunteer members and medical advisors.
About the Position
The Executive Director ensures that Foundation is an effective and sustainable organization with a focus on education, research, collaboration, community, and patient support.
Leading a team of 4+ direct reports.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Participate in strategy development and oversee strategy implementation.
Understates support as a primary pillar of the Foundation. Liaison with and providing resources to over 70 support groups across Canada is a core part of our services.
Expand awareness and advocacy in Canada
Oversee and manage all financial aspects of the Foundation (in collaboration with the Treasurer)
Stand accountable for all communications & marketing efforts
Oversight with several major events – and expand event platform
Ensure that the Foundation is meeting the operating goals to:
- Provide information and research access to patients for their ongoing contributions, both within our organization, and attract, oversee, and manage all employees, contractors, and volunteers.
- Pursue grant and fundraising initiatives that are representative of the Foundation - Advocate for patients and their families - Collaborate with stakeholders and government bodies- Advocate and increase knowledge and awareness to patients, to the Public, and the healthcare s

This opportunity is ideal for a Non-Profit leader who is able to move into an Executive Director opportunity with a $800K operating budget and a small, dedicated team of professionals who are advocates for the cause.

Experience/Education
University degree preferred.
Succinct verbal communication and effective listening skills
Capable of working with others at all levels: members, volunteers, consultants, government, external stakeholders, senior and support staff.
Financially savvy in budget development process/strategic planning/risk management
Strong project management, time management and negotiation skills
Proven ability to lead a small multi-functional team
Advanced MS Office skills, detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking abilities
Previous leadership in a not-for-profit organization preferred
Knowledge and experience in healthcare regulation and legislation an asset
In Office and Hybrid options will be open to consideration.
Compensation: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 Salary (subject to overall relevant experience)
